To become a Certified Therapy Dog, your dog must first past the Canine Good Citizen test along with a test from one of the organizations of your choice below.  New applicants should first observe a handler/dog team during a facility visit before undergoing their test. There are no perfect breeds to become Therapy Dogs, if your dog is friendly, well manered, not aggressive to other dogs, healthy and at least 1 year of age they would make a great therapy dog. These are the organizations that Tails of Aloha is certified to test for. CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
