The Cesar Millan Foundation has more than 800 Shelter Stars organizations promote positive, healthy relationships between families and the dogs they adopt by distributing copies of the most popular volume in Cesar Millan’s Mastering Leadership DVD series, People Training for Dogs, free of charge to families that adopt shelter dogs. Through this program, the Foundation hopes to give families adopting a new dog the basic understanding of dog psychology, so they will be able to work through problem behaviors with their new dog from day one, instead of returning the dog to the shelter when problems arise. Tails of Aloha is now a proud member of the Shelter Stars.

The mission of the R.E.A.D.?program is to improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of registered therapy teams as literacy mentors.

The Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program improves children’s reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to a dog. But not just any dog. R.E.A.D. dogs are registered therapy animals who volunteer with their owner/handlers as a team, going to schools, libraries and many other settings as reading companions for children.?
